While Slovan postponed their league match, Spartak played a match in Trenčín on Sunday. With a 2:0 win, they helped boost their confidence and at the same time prepared the best invitation to the derby for the fans.

"The mood was excellent. After an important victory in Trenčín, we are in second place, which helped the team. We feel good, we have completed most of the preparation for Slovan and we are looking forward to the match. I believe we will get three points," said Samuel Štefánik, who joined Spartak in the summer from Poland. It will not be the first derby for him, as he has had several in the Slovan jersey. "It's been a long time since I played this derby. I haven't forgotten about it, but since more time has passed since then, it won't be as specific. I still know some people in Slovan, I would like to see them, but I don't take it too seriously. I want to give one hundred percent on the pitch."

He played the very first one almost eight years ago, when Spartak won 4-0 with goals from Vlasko, Saba, Jendrišek and Casado. "I remember that match well. The stadium was under construction and Trnava ran out on us. I would certainly like that result to be repeated again for Trnava," the midfielder of the Trnava team expressed his wish.

Before DERBY – Samuel Štefánik and Milan Ristovski

On Sunday, the first will meet the second in Trnava, respectively the reigning champion and the holder of the Slovnaft cup. An attractive match for fans will be watched a lot. "The strongest opponent in the league is coming, but we believe in our quality. We are looking forward to the match, it is a derby and together with the fans we believe that we will be successful." Spartak forward Milan Ristovski says determinedly. After a minor crisis, his form seems to be on an upward trend. In Ružomberok he assisted on both goals, in Trenčín he was on the score sheet. On the field, he fights exemplary and increases the percentage of his battles won with defenders. In addition, Spartak have scored in all ten league games this season, so it would be a shame if that stat was broken right now.

"I think the offense is working well for us this season, we are creating chances, we are working well on the pitch and I believe we will have our opportunities on Sunday and convert them. I hope my form is going up. I work every training session and every match to get in shape and be successful. But it's not just about me. When we play well, we are all successful."

As we mentioned, Slovan postponed their weekend league match due to the cup duel in Yerevan. It did not bring much luck and the Slovak champion lost 0:2 in Armenia. We will see how the result and the long journey will be reflected in Sunday's match.

"Slovan will definitely come here for three points and he always played one hundred percent with us. It will be a good derby. I would like as many spectators as possible to come, let the stadium be full, because then he is the twelfth player for us." said Milan Ristovski, who, together with Bukat, is the team's top scorer with three goals.

It is Bukata who is the only Spartak player who will definitely not play in the match, as he has a crack in his knee and has to rest. Jaba Kankava, who has a penalty for rough play in the match with Dunajská Streda, will certainly not start for Slovan. It may also be questionable who will bring the Slovan team to Trnava and in which line-up our opponent will start. What is certain already is that Peter Ziemba will lead this match from the position of the main referee.

The match starts on Sunday 18 September from 17:30. More details on ticket sales: https://fcspartaktrnava.com/clanek.asp?id=9176
