Spartak did not leave anything to chance in Trenčianske Stankovce and from the beginning they tried to decide the match, which they succeeded in quite quickly.
The guests did not use their first chances. In the 7th minute, Nosek passed the goalkeeper too slowly, Boateng caught the ball, but Zemanovič corrected his teammate's mistake. Two minutes later, Azevedo came up with a nice action on the left side, released Daniel in the penalty area, but he shot over, as did Boateng shortly after from a similar position. It was only possible in the 12th minute, when Štefánik, after Azevedo's pass, went around the goalkeeper and opened the scoring from an angle into the empty net. Then Abdulrahman Taiwo shone with a clean hat trick in the span of seven minutes, opening his scoring account in the best way. First, after an individual action inside the penalty area, and then twice with a volley through the centers from the right side. In the first case, Štefánik found him and then Azevedo. Štefánik added the fifth goal after a shot from a corner.
During the break, the coach of Spartak withdrew four key players to rest before the league. In the second half, the Trnava team did not press forward as much, rather they used kicks for defense and attacks into free space. The next goal was scored only after the cooperation of Iván with Boateng, who dealt with Kleščík in the penalty area and he tripped him. Being fouled, he placed the ball on the white spot and scored. The home team also had their great chances, but Vantruba, who was bored for most of the match, pulled off great saves at the right time when Repu shot and when Čibík stopped. After a direct kick, Kleščík jumped the highest in the top five, but headed only into the crossbar. The home team was very eager to at least correct the result, and Vantrub and Kóš were saved by Ďuráči's tutuves. In the end, they did not achieve honorable success and Spartak made it to the next round without any major problems.
Michal Gašparík (Trnava): "We learned our lesson and today we started early with the entire starting line-up, which easily handled the match. It was 5-0 at half-time, and vice versa, when we substituted in the second half, it was obvious that the quality was much lower and in the end we added only one goal."
