On the sixth round of the Fortuna league, the Trnava team started with Boateng at the top, followed by Daniel and Yusuf on the wings of the young striker. Spartak attacked Dunajská Streda from the 2nd minute, a scrum after a corner kick meant the ball was on the boot of Boateng, but at the last moment the defense of the guests ruined his chance. Daniel also tried to threaten the visitors' goalkeeper with a shot on the ground in the 9th minute, his shot from the right side lacked power.
In the 16th minute, Savvidis won the ball in the middle of the field and with an excellent cross pass he found the running Daniel on the right wing, who dragged him into the penalty area and sent Spartak into the lead with a shot to the near post - 1:0.
Even in the 20th minute, the home team had a chance to score, a cross from the right flew to Savvidis, but the Greek failed to beat Veszelinov with his left foot in a difficult angle. In the 25th minute, the goalkeeper Takač distinguished himself, the shot from a direct kick served by Balogh brilliantly pushed it to a corner kick, which was subsequently neutralized by the defense.
The players from Trnava were in a frenzy, Daniel switched positions with Yusuf and was dangerous, Savvidis dominated in the middle. At the end of the half, after an excellent defensive slip, Štetina also chose to attack, and his blocked shot resulted only in a corner kick, and the first half ended with the home team leading by one goal.
In the second half, heavy rain greeted the players' area, Štefánik's corner came to Mikovič and he did not beat the goalkeeper with the first shot, but the Trnavčan's second attempt already ended up in the net - 2:0.
The guests got to the goal with a big chance, when the ball was centered in the home penalty area and substitute Nicolaescu used the offered chance in the 53rd minute - 2:1. The answer was not long in coming, in the 55th minute Daniel took over the ball in the penalty area of Dunajská Streda, he did not beat the goalkeeper with a technical shot, but the ball reached Yusuf and he tapped Bukata, who beat Veszelinov - 3:1.
The Angels slightly complicated the situation shortly before the hour mark. Mikovič fouled and received a second yellow card, so the captain ended the match prematurely. However, the rest of the Trnava team, including Tumm and Bolaj, locked in and didn't let the opponent do anything serious for long minutes. For the last twenty minutes of the duel, Paur and Ristovski also came to the field, the whole team disciplinedly defended the attacking guests and waited for counterattacks.
In the 83rd minute, the Trnava team was lucky when Brunetti's header after a corner kick only stamped the crossbar, then he got to the end of Paur on the other side, but his shot from outside the penalty area went wide of Dunajská Streda's goal.
Although Spartak played for more than half an hour without the suspended Mikovič, it did not change anything in the 3:1 win in the regional derby over the rival from Dunajská Streda. It was also appreciated by the spectators, who applauded persistently during the final minutes of the match.
Michal Gašparík (Spartak): "We manage to have good entrances to matches and halves, today it was confirmed, we scored a goal in the 16th minute. From the beginning, we wanted to beat the opponent without losing, that we were going for three points. There was emotion, until the exclusion there was a higher quality. The third goal was important, if the opponent got into the game, it would be difficult. After the expulsion, we defended it, we changed the line-up, we didn't let the opponent have chances for ten times, in the end it's a good result for us."
Adrián Guľa (Žilina): "The home team won absolutely deservedly, they were more emphatic and hungrier than my team. We got a lot of not very positive information, necessary for team building and winning mentality. I believe that we will grasp this information as soon as possible and present it in the next match. We didn't deserve to win today."
