Tomorrow, in the 13th round of the Fortuna League, the players of Spartak Trnava will play in Banská Bystrica. They set themselves up for the next outing with a smooth victory in the cup and in the league against Zlatý Moravci, and they would like to ride this wave in Štiavničky as well.
"We are happy with the result, but even in that match some things jumped out at us that the coach was showing us and maybe a better opponent could use them." says Spartak captain Martin Mikovič. The opening goal often decides the fate of the match, and even the home team had their chances when it was goalless. They didn't use them, and since Savvidis' opening goal, only one team was on the pitch. The 3:0 result is still lenient. While five or more goals are not rare in the Champions League in battles between favorites and outsiders, in our conditions it is often enough that the match is decided. At the same time, it was 3:0 in Zlaté Moravce even before the end of the game.
"We see that strong teams go after those goals. We, too, in Zlaté Moravce still went after them, but in the pre-final phase we did not play so well. Nevertheless, we had great chances, Risto had a penalty, Prochi had a chance there. Maybe it's also in the players' heads that when we win 3-0 and the opponent doesn't have a clear chance for the whole match, their heads work in such a way that even this will be enough for us. We have to work on that, to be hungry and always go for goals. Every goal can be decisive at the end of the league."
The Trnava team met Banská Bystrica right away in the 2nd round of the new year and, to Dukla's surprise, lost 1:2. At the same time, it was the only three points for Bystrica in the first six rounds, with which they were at the bottom of the table. The opening goal of the match was scored by Róbert Polievka after a nice individual action, who is currently at the top of the scorers table with six hits. Thanks to him, Bystrica recovered and is currently in 7th place with 16 points. The people of Trnava would not want to repeat the mistakes from the first match and take back the lost points. "We know how the draw is and the competitors play each other. Three points from Bystrica would help us a lot in the table. I remember that last match. We closed them down in their half, they made a break for us and Polievka scored for us. We got back into the game, we equalized right after the break, we were under pressure and we were slowed down by a made-up penalty. However, that match is behind us, we have moved somewhere in the game, we have learned and we are scoring goals. Our defense is working, we have three clean sheets in a row and we have to stick to that. We also have the quality to attack and I believe we will score some goals."
Dukla Banská Bystrica is a traditional football club dating back to federal times, which has had a difficult time behind it. She spent the other seven seasons in the 2nd league, although she reached the playoffs twice. On the third attempt, the playoff was no longer played, as Sereď and Senica were expelled from the league. The people of Trnava will perform at Štiavničky in Banská Bystrica for the seventh time in six months. Then the meeting ended in a 1:1 draw. Polievka or, for example, Fašako or Willwéber, who are still in the squad, started playing for the home team back then. From the Spartak team, only Martin Mikovič remembers this match, and it was he who equalized with a shot from outside the penalty area for the final 1:1.
"In Banská Bystrica, they were difficult matches, they had quality players, but the biggest problem was the pitch. When we played in the later months or when we started the spring part there, it was impossible to play there, there was mud on the lines. Now they have renovated it, even though the track around the field has remained, but they have new facilities and I am quite looking forward to it." concluded Martin Mikovič, who remembers that match.
