Eighty years ago (October 14, 1942), former great goalkeeper Josef Geryk was born in Novi Jičín. He came to Spartak in the winter of 1966 from Baník Ostrava. He played his first league match in the Trnava jersey in the spring of 1966 in Teplice, where Trnava won 1:0 with a goal by J. Adamec. In June 1967, after a 2:0 win in the rematch of Cs. cup (Spartak lost the first match in Prague's Eden 2:4 in the goal with Machač) contributed to Trnava's triumph when he neutralized Ivan Mráz's penalty. In 1971, he was involved in winning the Slovak Cup (Slovan BA 2:0 at home, Púchly 0:1 in the rematch) and Czech Republic. cup (Škoda Plzeň 2:1 and 5:1d). In 1975, he caught in both duels of the Czech Republic. cup against Sparta Prague and enjoyed winning the trophy after winning 3:1 d and 1:0.
On the European stage, he caught 14 meetings - away in Lausanne, 2nd half Torpedo Moscow in Tashkent, 2x Steaua Bucharest, 2x AEK Athens, Ajax in Amsterdam, Hibernians in Malta, 2x Galatasaray Istanbul, away Olympique Marseille, away Hertha Berlin, 2x Dinamo Bucharest . He played 123 league matches for Spartak (40 without a goal) and won all 5 championship titles (1968, 1969, 1971, 1972 and 1973). He caught Trnava's last match in the league in the 1st round in the fall of 1976 in Ostrava, where Trnava lost to Baník 0:4.
He died nine years ago doing what he loved most - football. During the exhibition match of the old men in Červeník, he collapsed in the goal and his heart failed.
