The documentary film Jan Koller: The Story of an Ordinary Boy, which charts the career of one of the most successful Czech football players of the recent past, was premiered today in the CINEMAX cinema in Trnava. On this occasion, a Czech football player also visited Trnava, who, together with Spartak football players and Martin Škrtel, signed autographs for fans in front of the club's official fan shop at the stadium.
"I didn't catch the joint Czech-Slovak league, but I was a big fan of Bohemians and I watched the federal league. I have to say that Spartak Trnava was one of the nicest football teams from Slovakia. There was a good atmosphere in the stadium and it is a historically very successful club," said the historically best Czech national team scorer.
At the same time, the over two-meter-tall striker did not have it easy in his career and was often written off. Nevertheless, he fought back and showed all the haters that he is a goal machine. He won the title in Belgium and in the Bundesliga with Dortmund, with whom he made it to the UEFA Cup final in 2002, where he also scored against Feyenoord, but the Dutch team enjoyed the title. And that is exactly what Petr Větrovský's film is about, which offers the story of a boy from Smetana Lhota who made it far, despite the fact that no one predicted a great career for him. "I wasn't used to cameras being around me all the time and I let those people into my privacy. Over time it got better and better and finally I was happy. I looked at the places where I played, like Lokeren, where I haven't been since I played there. I met the former coach under whom I made the most progress and it was pleasant."
In the Czech national team, he scored 55 goals in 91 matches. He played against the Slovak national team four times, enjoyed victory three times and scored three times. In the latter, the Czechs drew 2:2 with Slovakia. However, his fights with Slovak stopper Martin Škrtel, about whom the same creators are filming a similar documentary, are memorable. "Martin and I bumped into each other the most in those Czech-Slovak duels and I have to admit that sometimes it was really heated, painful and a few harsh words were said, but now we are fine and I have to thank Martin that he also took part in it the movie. He supported him and I wish him that he enjoys filming and that it turns into a beautiful story that I will definitely not miss."
Those who missed today's premiere can watch the interesting film in the coming weeks at CINEMAX cinemas in Trnava in the City Arena or Max shopping centers.
