Yesterday, the premiere of the film documentary Jan Koller: The Story of an Ordinary Boy took place in Trnava. On this occasion, an autograph session of the main protagonist was held in front of the official FC Spartak Trnava fan shop, which was supported by several Spartak Trnava football players and Martin Škrtel was also present. Following the model of the Czech legend, the same documentary is also being created about the former player of Spartak Trnava and the Slovak national team. Yesterday, both former professional players sat next to each other and remembered the times when they were among the biggest rivals on the field and did not give each other anything.
"Koller was one of the best strikers not only in Europe but also in the world at that time, and it was a huge challenge for me to play against him and measure my strength. In that match, there were some fights on the edge of a knife and it escalated to the point that we even had a verbal fight on the field. What happened on the field stayed on the field and I am very happy that even after such a time he remembered me, that I was one of those defenders who caused him the biggest problems. I am honored to be a part of his film," said Martin Škrtel, who last played for his native Ráztočno over the weekend.
Maybe in a year he will release his own film, which is currently being made by the team around Petr Větrovský. He charted the end of his career in the Trnava jersey, and in retrospect he will also return to the places of his previous activities. "In the beginning, the cooperation was more difficult, because I had some problems, especially towards the end of last year, it was probably not my fault. Then I realized that the film can be a good memory of my career and maybe it will help some young boys, football players, and show them the instructions that even from a small village it is possible to make it somewhere. Now I have more time when I'm not playing football and I enjoy filming. What we have shot so far is nice and when it comes together, the result will be interesting."
At the end, Martin made one last football wish, when he wished that the draw in the Slovnaft Cup would bring together Ráztočno and Spartak Trnava.
